The Making of a Wooden Bellyboard is a short film follows the journey into the production process of each handmade bellyboard. Filmed in our Dick Pearce and Friends workshop, watch each sheet of plywood go through seven stages of production before leaving the building as bespoke handmade bellyboard ready to ride the waves!
We love the changing seasons here in Cornwall. It was a beautiful summer of belly sliding small waves in beautiful blue water, no wetsuits required!
But as the days shorten and the winter sets in, the bigger altlantic storms start to roll through, lighting up beaches and coves all over Cornwall. Wetsuits get thicker!
Team rider Smalley here getting involved in his Dick Pearce Surfrider.... and loving it! Great combo with the Viper swim fins.

Incase you didn't know, our branded Dick Pearce and Friends Bellyboards aren't the only boards that we produce here in the workshop - we share the ply-love with a whole range of different clients and because we ship worldwide our boards are being enjoyed on an international scale - something we are truly proud of.
Everywhere we look things are getting a little festive and now we're officially into December our thoughts turn to Christmas traditions, cold water surfing, defrosting by the log burner and buying gifts for our loved ones and if you're anything like us, trying not to leave the shopping till to a last minute panic buy is part of the annual challenge!
Here at Dick Pearce and Friends HQ, we consider our workshop to be a bellyboard production powerhouse! It’s here we make each board by hand and have divided our workshop into dedicated sections to allow for each stage of the manufacturing process. Its a labour of love and we’re extremely proud of each board that starts as a blank square of plywood and finishes as a handcrafted water vessel. To share our passion for the products we make and the sport we love, we want to invite our fellow belly riders to pop by and share this creative process.
Once the plywood is cut out, the curved edge is created using a router. The wood is then steamed and placed in the racks for a few weeks to enable to rocker to curve. Next its sanding the board with variable gradients for a smooth finish. The spray room has a multitude of colour ways and we like to experiment here with new ways to add colour and personality to each range (check out our latest GOLD edition for out first multicoloured dipped board!) The last leg is the screen printing, each board is hand printed with our range of logos.
